The advanced lens expands your range of expression with the enhanced perspective of a wide 24mm focal length, 70mm lens with bright F2.8 telephoto shooting. This allows you to produce outstanding close-up performance as well as produce beautiful portraits with stunning background defocusing. You can also capture moving subjects in dimly lit settings. Legendary ZEISS®optics ensure superb edge-to-edge depiction, while a ZEISS®T1 coating reduces flare and ghosting, aspherical lens elements reduce aberrations as well as lens size, and a built-in 1/8 ND filter expands shooting freedom in bright scenes.

In addition to AVCHD format, the RX100 III is the first Cyber-shot camera to offer XAVC S3, the consumer variant of the professional XAVC format. Full HD (1920 x 1080) 60p (or 50p) recording at a bit rate of 50 Mbps clearly captures complex motion as seen in water spray or large crowds with stunning resolution. Audio is recorded in linear PCM format. Sequences recorded at the 120p (100p for PAL) high frame rate that is also included4can be reproduced in slow-motion with impressively smooth results.5
3 An SDXC memory card with a Class 10 or higher speed rating is required for XAVC S recording 4 120p (100p for PAL) recordings are captured at HD (1280 x 720) resolution. Intelligent Active Mode and Active Mode cannot be used when recording at 120p (100p for PAL) 5 The camera does not provide slow-motion playback capability. PlayMemories Home™ can be used for slow-motion playback. |
Area-specific noise reduction is now more powerful than ever. It selectively divides the image into areas based on patterns (such as edges, textures and evenly coloured areas like blue skies), and then applies the most appropriate noise reduction for each area to improve image quality, especially at high-sensitivity settings. Working together with Sony's detail reproduction, it gives supremely clear, detailed images. |
Want to display your still shots on a beautiful 4K TV? Built-in cable ports allow connections such as HDMI yet do not interrupt the crisp, clean lines of the camera body. You can also use the Wi-Fi® feature and dispenses with cables all together. |
Expand your device capabilities and your freedom to create with PlayMemories camera apps6. Download shooting and editing apps or signature apps such as Smart Remote Control and Direct Upload for maximum social network convenience, plus enjoy the ease of sharing photos wirelessly without a computer.
6 Download available in all countries/areas where Sony Entertainment Network is available. |
Sony's range of memory cards offers a wealth of entertainment possibilities and serves as a perfect companion for photographers. Transfer and share information or use it with Sony cameras, VAIO laptops, PSP, or Xperia™ smartphones or tablets.

Two new technologies bring out the full performance of sensor and lenses. Detail reproduction technology prevents the overemphasised outlines that plague most digital images. Diffraction reduction suppresses the effects of diffraction, which causes points of light to appear blurred especially at small aperture settings (large F-numbers). By taking the aperture setting into account, this technology faithfully restores clarity to points of light and other fine details, for beautiful landscapes, portraiture, and more. |
The high-bit-rate XAVC S format is provided for serious videographers. It enables Full HD image recording at 50Mbps for extremely high-quality expression and minimal noise. It also employs the Long GOP (Group of Pictures) data compression method to realise efficient movie recording. Furthermore, you can shoot Full Hi-Def with AVCHD, then easily edit that format in many different programs.
(Note: Sony recommends using an SDXC memory card higher than Class 10 when shooting movies in the XAVC S format.) |
